Books…..or Book?

During my drive time I like to listen to many different things.  Over the years I have gone from straight radio {too many commercials} satellite radio {too expensive} podcasts – best deal ever…..they are free!   Interspersed with all of that has been audiobooks.  Some came from the library, others we purchased……today I get my books from Audible.  Great service at a reasonable fee.  For $14.95 a month I get an audiobook every month.  If you have ever purchased audiobooks you know they can range from a few dollars up to 70 dollars.  While this frugal girl cringes at a monthly fee I figured that it was worth it for really great books.

Currently I am listening to Mistborn by Brandon Sanderson.  This book has over 670 pages.  It requires 3 separate downloads from Audible.  This is the first book in a series, so we know what my next book purchase from Audible will be don’t we?

Mistborn is about a subjugated group of people known as the Ska, that the nobility use as slaves and workhorses.  The Lord Ruler is their “god” and rules the land with terror and murder.  The Mistborn are special Ska that are able to use metals to enhance their senses.  The main character is Vin a girl with the mistborn abilities.  Vin has joined  a group of Ska to overthrow the government.

I am approximately 1/2 way through the book and have found it very engaging.  The story has held my interest and at times I can hardly wait for my work day to end so I can get back in the car and listen to more of the story.  In my world that is a very good recommendation.

I could go on and on about this book and another one by Brandon Sanderson but, you will eventually stop reading or your mind will wander.  For now suffice it to say …….if you like fantasy then go find a Brandon Sanderson novel.  On a side note if you ever read The Wheel of Time by Robert Jordan in it’s entirety then you have read some of Brandon Sanderson’s work.  He completed The Wheel of Time series after Robert Jordan passed away.  Just a bit of knowledge only anther nerd could appreciate.

What books are you reading? Do you have a recommendation on a new series?
