Hummus

I love me some hummus. 

I am sick of buying it at the store. 

So, while the hubs is away I did some cooking, err processing.  Hummus is not “cooked” but, is very tasty.  I found the recipe I used at Food Network.com   I have included the recipe to follow I copied it as well as gave you a link to follow.

Ingredients

  • 4 garlic cloves
  • 2 cups canned chickpeas, drained, liquid reserved
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons kosher salt
  • 1/3 cup tahini (sesame paste)
  • 6 tablespoons freshly squeezed lemon juice (2 lemons)
  • 2 tablespoons water or liquid from the chickpeas
  • 8 dashes hot sauce

Directions

Turn on the food processor fitted with the steel blade and drop the garlic down the feed tube; process until it’s minced. Add the rest of the ingredients to the food processor and process until the hummus is coarsely pureed. Taste, for seasoning, and serve chilled or at room temperature.

The hummus was tasty, I will bet the hubs will not like the tahini, I also think it is a little strong, next time less tahini, maybe only 1/4 cup.

Since I regularly eat raw garlic that taste does not bother me.  It might bother the people I come in contact with after eating it. 

This was just a trial recipe, I will look for more tomorrow as well as peruse the spice isle.
